Here are some of the questions you may have about the Refreshers course.

Why should I enrol on this course?

The course has been written off the back of two decades of front-line mission experience both worldwide and in a Western context.

The board of reference of Refreshment UK includes people involved in international Christian ministry as well as trained and respected theologians.

Directors Simon and Laura Cooper have been suitably and theologically trained through exclusive international leadership programmes, and are respected authors of biblical studies for CMM, who distribute them internationally.

Is there an age restriction on the course?

Applications can be received from anyone over the age of 18 who has a desire to become a pioneer missionary. We are unable to accommodate anyone younger than this.

Do I have to belong to a certain denomination?

The course is open to Christians from all denominations, and we would hope students would already be committed to a home church when applying.

Refreshment UK is a member of the Evangelical Alliance and agree with the EA basis of faith, including:

The divine inspiration and supreme authority of the Old and New Testament Scriptures, which are the written Word of God – fully trustworthy for faith and conduct.

We also believe in the active ministry of the Holy Spirit, and explore Spiritual Gifts as taught in Scripture.

Is the course accredited?

The course is not currently accredited, but we are seeking accreditation through NCFE. We hope that the course will be given the equivalent of a Certificate of Higher Education.

Is this course suitable as a gap year, year out or as a inner healing school?

No - the course is a practical and academic training course, and the programme is intense. We would expect students to be pursuing a call as a full-time missionary.

We do not recommend this course for inner healing but can recommend suitable alternative courses.

What pastoral support will I receive?

Whilst in Blackpool, we will assign you an external mentor who will be able to support you. We will also make sure that you feel part of a local church in Blackpool and encourage you to receive prayer and support from your home church and family.

How much will the course cost?

The cost for the year is £4200, which includes all food, accommodation and teaching resources.

There are various ways that students can pay for this - via personal support, through fundraising or by church sponsorship. Fees are payable monthly at a cost of £350 per month.

Refreshment UK can offer fundraising support as a registered UK charity and are registered with the Fundraising Regulator, as well as Stewardship.

Why Blackpool?

The Refresh Centre is located at the heart of a residential area in Blackpool, one of the more deprived parts of the UK. We are located here to present students with a front-line mission field.

As a popular seaside resort, Blackpool has a transient population, along with many social issues which give us a platform for effective mission training.

Can I visit the centre before applying?

Yes - please contact us at the form below to do that. Outside of course time, the centre is available for groups to come and meet the team, as well as get an idea of what goes on in Blackpool.

How do I apply?
