KIDNEY REVIEW - His answer to prayer
So, thanks to all those praying today, my appointment was a good one and the planned transplant review for kidneys was postponed because my results were better than anticipated.
My kidney function has stabilised now due to a well regulated blood pressure, kidney-friendly diet and high levels of cardio exercise. I remain comfortably in Stage 4 CKD. The function has remained pretty much the same for a year now and this week, was 6% better than when I was in hospital in 2021.
If it decreases by about 10%, then the transplant preparation will start but as long as it remains stable, there is no need for any dialysis or further treatment for now, just regular blood tests and more of the same lifestyle, so blood pressure meds, diet and fitness regime to continue because it is working, along with a covering in prayer.
In terms of weight management, my BMI was at 24.5 this morning and body fat down at 14% as well - cardio and lung levels remain good from the fitness test at the gym, so the consultant sees no need to look further for any issues.
So, after a rest from running due to a hip injury, I’ll be back at it from next week to keep on fighting CKD. Same diet, same fitness regime and prayer without ceasing - after all, we know the manufacturer of my kidneys.
For encouragement, ever since I’ve worn my running shirt with Romans 5 on it, I’ve been able to have opportunity to share what it means and who the hope is that it is mentioned - Jesus. You never know who is reading and sowing seeds and these events have hundreds of people in attendance … without CKD, I’d never be running, so God works all things for his good and we do all things so that he gets the glory. And it’s a privilege to be “running with Jesus.”
