The team at Refreshment UK are inviting people to invest in loan notes with Refresh Invest, a company that will provide the pathway to seeing a national training centre in Blackpool and mission hubs in the centre of 7 towns.

Refresh Invest is looking for investment over the course of 5 years of £2.8million, split into 400 loan notes of £7000 each. The agreed return would be set at 7% APR and fixed for a term until 31st March 2030. Investors can have notes returned on the 1st April each year (after 12 months investment). However, note interest is guaranteed at 7% APR throughout the entire term and interest paid annually.

The investment is set out to tackle two significant social needs in these areas that will bring change and transformation to the town:

• The presence of a mission hub, active in the centre of a town, will brings life and people into the area. In Blackpool, we currently work with a network of 47 churches, and over 1000 people, and the hub would provide activities that would bring these people into Deansgate, an area of the town that needs regeneration. The hub programme also reduces the risk of anti-social behaviour and brings lasting, permanent improvement. In each of these locations, businesses are leaving the main town centre, and building a community in the centre of these places will help bring regeneration to the high street and give people a reason to come to the centre of the area.

• There is a mental health crisis within the UK that a hub in the centre of town can meet the needs of by building a community. The hub will provide a much-needed support programme, and add purposeful activities to those who use it through skills training and development programmes. Providing a space that bring community and meets people at the level of managed mental health will bring relief to other services in the area. The mission hub relies on a local network of volunteers and is peer led.

Why investment?

Using community fundraising to fund these hubs over 5 years brings a national network of people in and community ownership, but in the meantime, our investment programme takes the pressure off grant-making bodies and organisations and quickly gets the work going. Refresh Invest also allows us to bless investors rather than remove from the budgets, and demonstrates how a Christian project can be an influential asset to the area. Investment allows us also to not compromise our tried and tested methods of bringing help and hope to a high street that will enhance these towns.

How can we fund the return of 7% interest?

The return on the investment is funded in three ways:

• Unutilised investment is kept in a high-interest savings account of 2.5%

• The local hubs have a commercial element to them and a levy will be charged

• The 400 Club fundraising campaign is based on community fundraising, enabling us to claim Gift Aid of 25% on a significant amount of donations

TERMS

Loan Stock ideally will be invested for 5 years, but can be repaid on shorter terms, beginning the 1st April 2027. Due to the popularity of the investment, Refresh Invest will show preference to applicants who are willing to invest for the whole 5 years.

Each application will be considered before approval. A loan agreement will be issued by Refreshment UK, but the advice of our solicitor is to make sure that the loan agreement is solely for the purposes agreed by Refresh Invest Ltd.

Refresh Invest is a limited company. All shares are held by Refreshment UK and directors manage the investment as per the agreement set at the start of the project.​​
